When did you start your college search?

My junior year of high school

How did you find Ohio University?

My mom suggested I visit; I had taken other college tours, and I was not having any luck finding a college I really connected with. Even on my first visit to Ohio University, I already felt a sense of community, and I could see myself thriving in this environment.

What do you remember from your college visit?

I remember how friendly everyone was and how inquisitive. I attended a breakoff session for business majors, and I met some other students that became mentors to me. We are still in touch and see each other all the time on campus. I learned so much and received a lot of personal attention, and I wasn’t even a student yet. That kind of support has only amplified throughout my time here.

Why did you choose Ohio University?

Ohio University stands out because you get the experience of going to a big school with lots of opportunities, but you also get so much personal attention and support from faculty and students. I found my niche and community here so easily even before arriving, and that was really important for me to have.

The College of Business and Athens

What are you studying? How did you come to that?

I am studying Management Information Systems. My senior year, I took a computer science course that piqued my interest in coding, but I was actually leaning toward international business while in high school. I had a lot of different interests, and I was conflicted about which I should focus on until my advisor recommended an MIS course. I believe this is a major appeal of studying business; you will get exposure to a lot of different practical skills that will be useful no matter what field you go into, and after exploring all of them, it is so easy to pivot within the COB if you want to.

How else are you involved on campus?

I am involved with a career-oriented information systems and analytics group called ISAP, a management and leadership organization called Select Leaders, and ENACTUS, an entrepreneurial organization where students team up and work on creative business projects that will benefit the community. Outside of student orgs, I am in a running group that meets every other day, and I’m looking forward to trying rec soccer this coming semester!

What is your graduation year? What do you want to do after graduation?

I will graduate OHIO in May 2024. After graduation, I am interested in pursuing a consulting track or supply chain management, two career paths I hope to explore more during my next three years at OHIO.

Share about your advisor? Your Career Coach?

My advisor is the reason that I found my niche in business. The special thing about the faculty at OHIO is that they will see talents in you that you never would have seen in yourself, and they will not hesitate to let you know if you have a skill or proclivity for a certain subject.

What’s a classroom lesson that has stuck with you?

Discovering my “Why”; in my freshman tutorial, my cohort discussed this concept from a famous Simon Sinek Ted Talk. This is an important concept in the business world, especially in sales. The idea is that the most successful companies are not just selling a product or service, but a belief and a lifestyle that resonates with people. This lesson was important because it centered me and encouraged me to think about my own “Why” beyond its business application.

Favorite campus landmark? Place to study? Place to eat? Coffee?

My favorite place on campus is the bike trail that hugs the Hocking River, especially when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. Baker Center is my favorite study spot; I recommend sitting at the back patio on warmer days in the fall and spring. You cannot leave Athens without trying Big Mamma’s Burritos; the Chipotle Ranch is the best. There is an ongoing debate at OHIO about the best coffee shop in Athens, but I’ll settle it now: Donkey Coffee.

What is your favorite thing about Athens, Ohio?

The people. Athens is beautiful and I appreciate the colonial feel of the university’s architecture, but the people are what make Athens so special. OHIO is truly a college town, and there is no better way to live in college than surrounded by other driven students that will quickly become your best friends.

Personality Questions

If you had to shadow one person for an entire month, who would it be?

Definitely Elon Musk. An unoriginal answer, but I am just another one of millions that is completely fascinated by his mind and accomplishments. I read Musk’s biography, but it would be even better to follow him around and get to see the pages from his story come to life before my eyes.

Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button on your life, why?

I would prefer to rewind; I am a very sentimental person, so instead of just looking at old photos and remembering past experiences, I would love to relive them.

If you could live in any sitcom, which one would it be and why?

I would live in Parks and Recreation because that show totally aligns with my sense of humor.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be?

John Green, Yeonmi Park and Elon Musk.

If you can instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I would instantly become an expert in political science or international relations so I could be very worldly and aware. I read the news every day, and I love history and government courses in school, but politics can be very overwhelming; I would love to instantly have a great amount of knowledge and expertise in that area.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

I would visit Castile and Leon in Spain. I have been to Spain before but never to that province, and I am obsessed with its pictures and history. It is a dream of mine to take Spanish classes for my minor at a school in Spain, and the prestigious University of Salamanca is located in Castile and Leon.

Favorite season and why?

My favorite season is fall because of the weather, football games and the upcoming holidays.

Favorite genre of music?

My favorite genre overall is probably country, but some of the people I’ve met at OU have got me into alternative rock and indie bands like Interpol.

Favorite music artist?

The Wallows.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Books. Sometimes I need an escape to get out of my own head, and books are the perfect diversion.

Do you have a celebrity look alike?

I have never been told that I have a celebrity look alike, but my favorite celebrity is Zendaya.

What TV show would you guest star in?

The X-Files. I would love to join the FBI for a day to help Mulder and Scully solve a supernatural mystery.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy running, making paper crafts like handmade birthday and holiday cards, reading mystery and suspense novels, and spending time outside with my friends.
