What do you remember from your college visit?

I attended the OHIO Up Close day with my mother, and I really enjoyed it because it was for students who had already been accepted so I feel like I learned more than just a general college tour visit.

Why did you choose Ohio University?

Right when I stepped onto campus, I noticed that everyone was so welcoming and other students would initiate a conversation when my mother and I looked lost. I wanted to go to a school that was big on community and about helping others. I came in undecided, but on a pre-business track. On my tour, I realized more that the College of Business had so much to offer, and everyone I had talked to were extremely helpful and professional.

What are you studying? How did you come to that?

Marketing and Business Analytics co-major with Sales and Human Resource Management certificates. My freshman year, I joined the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre and realized I wanted to pursue a career in sales. I really enjoyed my QBA classes; therefore, I made it a co-major. My mother works in Human Resources, and she was really pushing me to complete the certificate, and so far, I have learned a lot about working with different kinds of teams in different environments.

Reflect on your Cluster experience.

Cluster was my favorite semester at Ohio University. I enjoyed working closely with my groups and building closer relationships with them. I learned a lot about teamwork and how to efficiently get work done on time. I also learned how to deal with conflict within a group and how to overcome different obstacles. The two projects we worked on were interesting and made me think outside of the box. It made me think in different ways and allowed me to see a bigger picture of how to analyze an industry as a whole and create a business concept that would be successful within a given region. I took Cluster the semester when COIVD-19 hit and when it changed to virtual for the first time ever. Due to this happening, it made me realize that the business world is constantly changing, and it helped me to become more adaptable.

How else are you involved on campus?

I am also a Learning Community Leader, an Active Member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, an Account Manager for the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, an Active Member of Ohio Women in Business, and part of the National Society of Leadership & Success.

What is your graduation year? What do you want to do after graduation?

May 2022. I hope to attend graduate school to pursue an MBA or work for a year and then go back to school.

Share about your advisor? Your Career Coach?

My advisor is Lori Mardis. She has been the most helpful for me when it comes to questions about my schedule and adding more to my major. It is very easy to make an appointment with her on Handshake. She is extremely caring and friendly, which makes it easier to talk to her, and she always makes sure every student is taken care of, no matter of all the different majors and different tracks students are on, when advising meetings were in person in small groups.

What’s a classroom lesson that has stuck with you?

To reach out to professors when you need help or are struggling in a class. Every professor in the College of Business is welcoming and rooting for you to succeed. Any time I have ever needed help in a class, my professor has made sure to go above and beyond to make sure that I do not fall behind and understand what is being taught.

Favorite campus landmark? Place to study? Place to eat? Coffee?

The Ridges. During the day, it is really pretty, quiet, and serene. They have a place with picnic tables. My friends and I will go eat lunch there when it's sunny and nice out.

Donkey Coffee is my favorite place to study because it is a local coffee shop that is nearby and feels comfy and cozy.

What is your favorite thing about Athens, Ohio?

The fall is my favorite thing about in Athens because the leaves changing during the different seasons is very pretty to look at especially on the bricks.
