Dr. Cano-Kollmann's research is interdisciplinary in nature, lying at the intersection of international business, economic geography and innovation. He is interested in how both geographic location and institutions affect the strategies of firms, particularly (but not only) their innovation practices. His work explores how public policies and institutional contexts affect innovation patterns; how political connections can protect firms in risky contexts; how firms and regions co-evolve and how innovation activities affect economic development at the regional level.
He has presented his research at top conferences such as Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC), Druid, and the University of Reading-UNCTAD International Business Conference, among others.
He also spent time as a visiting scholar at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics of the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

Dr. Marcelo Cano-Kollmann is an Associate Professor of Strategy and International Business at the Ohio University College of Business. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration (International Business and Strategic Management) from Temple University, his M.B.A. in Management Consulting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and holds Accounting and Management degrees from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Prior to academia, Dr. Cano-Kollmann worked for 15 years in different positions in accounting, finance and general management, for companies from Argentina, France, Japan, Spain and the U.S. His experience includes industries as diverse as wine, utilities, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, agriculture, and professional services. He is a chartered accountant in Argentina.
Dr. Cano-Kollmann is a Visiting Lecturer at Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy), where he has taught since 2017. He has also taught at Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), and Universidad de San Andrés (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
