COVID-19 Related Charge Adjustments
Ohio University will issue student account credits on a prorated basis for services that were discontinued during the University’s response to COVID-19: Athens on-campus housing, meal plans, parking permits, and Commencement caps and gowns. Student account credits will apply to any outstanding balance and, where applicable, any remaining amount will be refunded. These credits will be issued by March 30. Refunds of any resulting account credit will begin April 1.
Instruction and other student services remain available to students through remote and virtual platforms. More information is available on www.ohio.edu/coronavirus.
IMPORTANT: To assist with prompt refunds where applicable, students’ home address and/or direct deposit information must be current. Students can update their address or direct deposit information by accessing My OHIO Student Center. Addresses are displayed in the Personal Information section. To enroll in or update direct deposit, navigate to the Finances section and select “Enroll in Direct Deposit” from the dropdown menu. For security purposes, multi-factor authentication is required to access direct deposit. Visit the multi-factor enrollment page and follow the prompts to “Add MFA My OHIO Student Center” if you have not yet enrolled. Complete your direct deposit enrollment by 8 am April 1 if you are due a refund and you wish to receive it by direct deposit.
Housing and Meal Plans
The University will reimburse students on a prorated basis for on-campus housing and residential meal plans (Flex 20, Flex 14, Traditional 20, Traditional 14, and Traditional 10 meal plan). Prorated charge adjustments for on-campus housing and residential meal plans will be calculated using a March 15 effective date, provided the student has completed the check-out process or has received special approval for a late check-out. Resident Assistant credits will be adjusted as well.
Students who remain in the residence halls will not receive a charge adjustment and will be contacted by Housing and Residence Life with details about meal plan adjustment options.
Block and Destination Dining meal plan holders will receive an email from Culinary Services with detailed information about any unused balance, which in most cases will roll to fall semester 2020.
Individual Course Fees
Most course fees were eliminated when Ohio University created the OHIO Guarantee in 2015. In general, any remaining course fees will not be eligible for a charge adjustment. Any student eligible for a course fee adjustment will be notified by the end of the semester.
Students holding an active commuter or residential parking permit for campus will receive a prorated credit to their student account.
Commencement Caps and Gowns
Since Spring 2020 Commencement is postponed, the University will reverse cap and gown fees charged to student accounts. Graduates will receive new instructions for purchasing cap and gowns through the University when a new Commencement date has been set. To purchase a cap and gown in the meantime for personal use, please visit https://ohio.shopoakhalli.com/. Orders will be shipped to home addresses.
