Q: Alumnus John Brough accomplished many things in life; however, what was the one athletic feat he was known for?

THE ANSWER IS: A) Kicking a football over Cutler Hall

John Brough attended Ohio University in 1830. He was known as a “fine footballer” who could punt the football over the top of College Edifice, now Cutler Hall. Besides the power of his kick, Brough was an impressive person in more ways than one. He began his studies at OHIO at 14 and completed his studies in three years. He founded the Cincinnati Enquirer. He was a University trustee. He served in the Ohio General Assembly and was governor of Ohio for one year before dying in office.
