OHIO Founders Day recognition moves online
Founders Day traditionally marks the passage on Feb. 18, 1804 of an act establishing Ohio University by the newly formed state of Ohio. The Founders Day website celebrates Ohio University's long and successful academic legacy, and in particular will mark the 210th anniversary of the passage of the University's first charter, which was promulgated on Jan. 1, 1802, a year prior to the creation of the state of Ohio.
Miss Black Ohio seeks to inspire young women
Junior Ohio University student Kayla Hardimon is adjusting well to her new role as Ohio royalty. After being chosen Miss Black Ohio last summer, Hardimon, a broadcast journalism major, has spent the past few months visiting schools, churches and other organizations throughout the state. Her platform, "A Woman's Worth," seeks to empower young women and promote a healthy self-image.
Alumnus' company receives national tech award
Ohio University alumnus Alan Schaaf's startup company imgur.com has won national recognition at the 5th annual Crunchies Awards in San Francisco, winning a first-place award before the eyes of some major technology companies. Imgur.com (pronounced "imager") beat out other startups like GitHub, Instapaper, Onesheet and Tap Tap Tap (Camera+) as "best bootstrapped startup" at the awards ceremony Jan. 31 sponsored by technology-focused websites TechCrunch, VentureBeat and GigaOM.
Alumna LaForce among Cleveland's 'Most Interesting'
Allie LaForce, a 2011 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism through the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University, has been featured as one of the "Most Interesting People 2012" by Cleveland Magazine. LaForce, a broadcast journalism major and native of Vermillion, Ohio, was involved in a number of WOUB sports shows, played on the OHIO women’s basketball team for two seasons and was active on campus. She also served as a Nike field reporter while at Ohio University.
Julie Mann, Ohio University Alumni Association board member, leads a small group discussion during the 9th annual Charlotte Networking Week held Feb 23-25. Around 50 students and more than 70 alumni connected during career-focused alumni panels, Charlotte area tour with company visits, and the alumni banquet. This year's event saw the largest alumni attendance since 2009.
Spring Alumni Weekend
Spring Alumni Weekend will be filled with alumni reunions, campus tours and group pictures for alumni that are attending. Honors Tutorial College will be celebrating its 40th anniversary, the College of Fine Arts its 75th anniversary and The Post its 100th anniversary. To learn more, click here.
A highlight to the weekend's festivities is the Alumni Leaders Conference, which will include several valuable workshops and presentations to help leaders fine tune their alumni networks. Chapter and society groups will be honored during Friday's dinner celebration, where awards will be given for most innovative program, alumni/student networking and outstanding chapter and society among others.

The Post's 100th Anniversary
Come celebrate the 100th anniversary of OHIO’s student newspaper, The Post, scheduled for April 13-15. Originally called the Green and White, The Post has made many changes in the past century, including a new home in Baker University Center. The celebration will include tours of the new office space, a get-together for past and present Posties, workshops and a banquet.

MAC Tournament Update
All Roads Lead to Cleveland" for the 2012 FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Starting March 7, the second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and championship games will be played at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The tournament will conclude with the championship game on March 10 at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
