Sisters create endowed scholarship in honor of father
Sisters Julie Mann, Lisa Mann McCormick and Caroline Mann have created the Hanly Mann Scholarship for Women in Engineering in honor of their father, who passed away in March 2000. Hanly Mann graduated from OHIO in 1966 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with his daughters following his footsteps. The sisters say that their father desired to see women succeed in a male-dominated profession. This scholarship will help aspiring female engineers have the same opportunities at OHIO as the Mann family.

New alumni chapters off to a great start
Ohio University Alumni Association and current chapter leaders have been hosting meetings to talk about reorganizing and creating new Alumni chapters. Discussions have included types of events, event planning guidelines and chapter leadership structure.
In Ohio, the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo chapters reorganized, and the new OHIO Employee Chapter was formed. Nationally, the Atlanta, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh chapters reorganized and chapters were created in San Francisco and Tennessee. Most chapters added to their current leadership and others created all new leadership.
Alumni chapters are designed to serve geographically-based groups of alumni. In the last year our chapters engaged more than 200 volunteers and hosted more than 300 events. More than 11,000 alumni participated in all the chapter events combined.
For more information on how to start or reorganize a chapter, contact Dawn Werry at firstname.lastname@example.org or Erica Lipscomb at email@example.com.
