OUAA redesigns, simplifies awards nominations
OUAA has streamlined its awards nominations process, offering an easy way to nominate deserving alumni and friends of the university.
The online form has now been split into five separate forms, one for each award category. Nominators can complete the form in one sitting and will receive immediate confirmation.

OHIO launches campus etour
Ohio University recently launched an online tour of its Athens campus, offering prospective students and families a new opportunity to view and learn more about the beautiful university.

Office of Nationally Competitive Awards (ONCA) welcomes new staff
After restructuring and expanding its office, ONCA now offers more international award programs than ever before.
Beth Clodfelter, the former director of U.S. Fulbright Programs, is the new ONCA director and Cary Roberts Frith, an HTC alumna and former journalism professor, will serve as a fellowship adviser.
OHIO biomedical engineer receives $942,000 for cancer research
Monica Burdick, an assistant professor at Ohio University, will use two federal grants to conduct research on cancer stem cells and a new method for identifying tissue samples.
Burdick hopes both projects will eventually cast light on the diagnoses of many human illnesses, including cancer.
Parker Hannifin gives more than $180,000
OHIO alumnus Jack Myslenski '73 will soon have a new fluid power lab at Ohio University dedicated in his name.
Parker Hannifin Corp., an international motion and control company, recently gave the Russ College of Engineering over $180,000 Myslenski’s honor, who worked for the company for over 35 years.

The Ohio University Alumni Association recently launched its mobile-friendly website, offering smartphone users a convenient and easy-to-use way to access information.
This new option has streamlined the site, putting the focus on OUAA's most highly visited pages.
The new format was designed with more than just convenience in mind. It also includes links to notable alumni and photo albums – making it easy for proud alumni to show off their alma mater. Users will find links for OUAA's social media pages.

Interviewing Intelligence Day connects alumni, students
On Sept. 24, Ohio University alumni returned to Athens for Interviewing Intelligence Day, an event organized by the College of Business Society of Alumni and Friends (SAF) and Connect, a student business organization.
Alumni discussed their own experiences and interviewing best practices with business students at the four-hour event. Students could attend sessions on interview preparation, the actual interview process, interview follow-up and a general session called "Mastering All Types of Interviews." Students also had the opportunity to network and form lasting connections with successful OHIO alumni.
Interviewing Intelligence Day is part of SAF’s efforts to prepare business students for the annual university-wide fall career fair.

Jessica Huizenga, the recipient of the 2011 Alumni Association Scholarship, is a senior studying marketing, sales and communications. Originally from West Chester, Ohio, Jessica has been an active member in the Student Alumni Board, the Sales Centre and Connect since her freshman year. Currently, she serves as the President of Connect, Vice President of Corporate Development in the Sales Centre, is a senior leader in Select Leaders and is an Alumni Engagement committee member in SAB. She also works as a Senior Resident Assistant in Wilson Hall and a Peer Mentor/Teaching Assistant for the business learning communities. She interned with Whirlpool Corporation and Actuant Corporation in the marketing/sales fields. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys running, eating at local Mexican restaurants, and completing her senior year "Athens Bucket List" with her friends!

This position serves in a leadership capacity for the Alumni Association, managing several staff members and overseeing external events, campus relations, alumni advocacy and fundraising. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations. A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, and supervision in higher education or similar environment is required.
