OHIO baseball star drafted by Arizona
OHIO's Marc Krauss, the nation's leader in home runs per game and MAC Player of the Year, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. Krauss is the 39th Bobcat chosen since 1989.

Fourth-generation Bobcat earns diploma
OHIO graduate Ashlee Dolan is part of a family tradition that began with her great-grandfather -- a professor, conservationist, and the man after whom nearby Dow Lake was named.

University rewards ingenuity
More than 135 students were recognized for their work at the 2009 Student Research and Creative Activity Expo. The event featured over 600 student projects ranging from a robotic Bobcat to research on cancer screenings in Appalachian Ohio.

Scholarship program graduates first student
Erin Shipbaugh is OHIO's first Appalachian Scholar to graduate, completing her business marketing degree in three years -- and with an international experience. This achievement is also a success for the program that provides need-based support to students in 29 southeast Ohio counties.

OHIO students make
a difference
Russ College of Engineering students Thomas Burke, Brady Doudna, Matt Hinssen, Chuck Lampp, Luke Lindsey, Adam McNally, and Jeremy Spivack won a $20,000 first-place prize from the National Institute for the Severely Handicapped (NISH) as part of a competition to enhance employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

CommencementOhio University's 255th commencement exercises featured a keynote address by Herman Leonard, an internationally acclaimed photographer and 1947 OHIO graduate. Master's and Ph.D. students were addressed in a separate ceremony by Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award winner Patricia Weitsman, professor of political science.

Movie magic at OHIO

Trailerpark What began as a class project in the School of Media Arts and Studies became a spectacular point of pride for Ohio University with the world premiere of the feature-length film Trailerpark at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Seventy OHIO students collaborated on the movie, which was adapted from the work of award-winning author Russell Banks. Click here for a behind-the-scenes look at the project and how OHIO helps students prepare for their careers with hands-on opportunities not available at many other universities.
