Your presence is requested at special Physics & Astronomy events in May!
Two special guests are coming to Athens in May. One is a physics alumnus whose illustrious career includes receiving a Nobel Prize; the other began his science career as a high school junior in our department on an NSF-sponsored summer program and went on to make groundbreaking discoveries in several areas of astronomy.
Dr. Venkatraman (Venki) Ramakrishnan (Ph.D. 1976) and Dr. Robert Kirshner will be attending the commencement ceremony to receive honorary degrees. While they are in Athens, they will give colloquia on Thursday, May 2, and receive honorary degrees on Friday, May 3, at the graduate commencement ceremony, which begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Convocation Center on the Athens campus. The doors open at 8 a.m.
