Dean's message: My last commencement as Dean of Arts & Sciences

This spring's commencement will be the last I attend as dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, as I am returning to my first love — teaching psychology. May 11 is my last day as dean, and then I will take a much-needed sabbatical before I return to campus as "Professor Frank."

The college now offers three master’s degrees well-suited for secondary schoolteachers who are seeking opportunities to earn the necessary credentials to instruct college-level, dual enrollment courses.

New: TESOL endorsement for teachers

Save $1,000 by taking all four courses in summer 2018. Ohio teachers can earn the TESOL endorsement, and the Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate is open to all.

New online certificate designed for professionals using geospatial technologies

The Geospatial Information Science: GIS & Cartography Certificate is fully online and is designed for professionals who need to think spatially, interpret maps, and creatively use geospatial technologies, which are fundamental skills expected in a wide variety of careers today. No prior background in GIS is needed for this certificate.

Mother and daughter are powerful biological science duo

“I’d often pick up Madeline from day care, bring her to the lab so I could continue to work, and let her look at slides under a microscope,” Pam Groen says. “As a child, Madeline even learned how to dissect an eye! The more I could show and teach her, the better,” she adds.
