Welcome to Engage, the alumni newsletter of the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University. I am very excited to launch Engage as part of a new college outreach initiative designed to promote stronger ties with our alumni. MORE.

Lisa S. Cohen, Director of External Relations: Lisa is committed to engaging alumni, community and external partners. As Arts & Sciences alumni, you are invited to share what is meaningful to you in your lives, careers and communities, how you might ENGAGE at OHIO, and what we can do to support you as a lifelong learner. Your interest and insights will have a direct impact on our efforts going forward.
Kacey Schaum, Assistant Director for the Career and Leadership Development Center: Kacey facilitates career coaching, resume reviews, and mock interviews, including career services for alumni. She also serves on the Employer Relations team in the career center.

Proudly Celebrating the College’s 80th Birthday

We are off to a great start this academic year—the 80th anniversary of the founding of the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University. A lot has changed since 1936. MORE.

Save the Date: Arts & Sciences Career & Networking Week

The college is planning its first-ever career and networking event designed especially for students majoring in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The College of Arts & Sciences Career & Networking Week is Jan. 30 to Feb. 3.

A highlight will be an Alumni Day on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, including career panels in the afternoon followed by an evening networking reception where Arts & Sciences alumni can interact with students. If you’re interested in getting involved in the Career & Networking Week and/or attending the alumni networking reception, contact Lisa Cohen.

Global Challenges

  • Think August and September were really hot? You’re right. Listen to Dr. Ryan Fogt talk about the differences between weather and climate— and “The Causes of Global Climate Change over the Last Century and Hope for the Future.” Watch.
  • Did you know that people can starve even when there is enough “food” to go around? Learn how segments of the world’s population are “food-vulnerable.” Dr. Steve Scanlan discusses The Global Hunger Crisis:  Food Poverty and Its Complexities in a World of Plenty.” Watch.

Writers Harvest

  • Drop in to watch the fall Writers Harvest, where “mister essay writer guy” Dinty W. Moore encourages the audience, “If you find anything humorous, you are allowed to laugh,” and poets Kathryn Nuernberger (alum) and English Professor David Sanders read their work. Watch.
