Baker University Center will remain open overnight to serve as a gathering space for those who were affected by the Carriage Hill Apartments fire.

2/26/17, Update: 10:30 p.m. - Baker University Center will remain open throughout the night and continue to provide assistance to those affected by the Carriage Hill Fire.
 
The following support resources and information have also been made available.
 
Academic Support
Ohio University faculty can provide academic support to affected students regarding assignments, technology needs and more. Students are encouraged to reach out directly to their professors for assistance.
 
International Student Support
International students who have been affected may contact International Student and Faculty Services if they need assistance in contacting their consular representative to replace visas and other documentation.
 
Housing Services
American Red Cross of Southeast Ohio is at Baker University Center to provide assistance to community members affected by the fire; the University is working to provide temporarily housing to students. 
 
Transportation Services
Transportation from Baker University Center to Carriage Hill will be available throughout the evening. Overnight vehicular parking remains available in the Baker University Center Garage.
 
Parent Information
Parents whose students are residents of Carriage Hill may contact the OUPD Dispatch Line at 740-593-1911 if they need assistance in locating their student.
 
Donations Support
To donate to students affected by the fire: Clothing and material donations may be dropped off at the 1804 Lounge in Baker University Center. To make a monetary donation, please visit www.ohio.edu/give. Choose “Make a one-time gift,” then select “Ohio Parents and Family Endowment” from the dropdown menu.
 
To donate to community members affected by the fire: Please contact the American Red Cross of Southeast Ohio by calling 740-593-5273 or visiting www.redcross.org

2/26/17, Update: 8 p.m. - The Carriage Hill Apartments fire is out. The Athens Fire Department remains on the scene to address hot spots. There are no reported injuries at this time.

Anyone who was affected by this evening’s fire, and would like assistance, is welcome to visit Baker University Center. Food, water and other resources are available. Vehicular parking is available in the Baker University Center Garage.

The University is providing bus transportation services from Carriage Hill to Baker University Center. 

2/26/17, 7:30 p.m. - Ohio University was notified of a fire at Carriage Hill Apartments earlier this afternoon. The fire is currently contained, and has affected portions of two buildings in the area. There are no reported injuries at this time. 
 
Baker University Center will remain open through the evening to serve as a gathering space for those who were affected by the fire. Housing and Residence Life is also working to provide any necessary assistance to those who were displaced; food, water and other items will be available at Baker University Center. 
 
Drop off stations for anyone who would like to provide donations are available at Baker University Center.
