I Know of Someone Who is Interested in Making a Gift
Wonderful! We know that many alumni remain connected to the institution through their relationship with you. You all play a vital part in the lives of students as they develop, and we appreciate the many things you've done for and continue to do for our students.
In the event you know of someone who is interested in making a gift, please make sure to mention it to
your unit's development officer. They will able to help with the mechanics of the giving process, and can make sure that we're protecting both your unit's and the donor's interests.
What to Do If You Receive a Cash Gift
If you receive a cash gift, please notify your unit's development officer. They will be more than happy to take the gift to the Foundation; or, if you'd prefer, you can send it to the Foundation yourself. In most situations, time is of the essence when depositing these gifts, so please make sure to send them the same business day you receive them.
What to Do If Someone Would Like to Give a Good or Service to the University
Gifts of goods or services to the university are referred to as gifts-in-kind. These require special handling and are subject to special scrutiny by the IRS, so please consult with your development officer if someone expresses interest in making a gift-in-kind donation.
We get it - you're passionate about a project you're working on and you want it to be a success. It's an exciting thing in the life of our university to see so many people fired up and ready to make great things happen, but IRS regulations and charitably issues are tough to navigate and there can be a lot of questions you might not know the answer to.
