Cultural Connections at OHIO Up Close is an overnight visit at Ohio University for admitted students from underrepresented populations. You and your parent/guardian(s) will take part in OHIO Up Close activities, such as campus tours, an academic session, a resource fair, Q&A panels, and much more. Cultural Connections continues your visit with a family dinner, student and parent chats, an evening social, Saturday breakfast, and one-on-one admissions appointments.
You may also register for a daily campus visit, including an information session and a campus tour, available Monday-Friday and most Saturdays.
Your OHIO ID and password are required to register. If you have not already activated your OHIO ID, you can do so by following the instructions on the admitted student website.

1-4 p.m. - Activation Station: Submit Your Housing Contract, Register for Orientation, and Meet with Learning Community Programs
1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. - Riding Town and Gown Bus Tour
1-4:30 p.m. - Language Placement Exam available
8 a.m.-5 p.m. - Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Learning Community Programs offices open
5:30-7 p.m. - Shuttles to and from Ohio University Inn, hotel check-in
6-7 p.m. - Portraits with Rufus the Bobcat at Family Dinner
6:30-8 p.m. - Cultural Connections Family Dinner
8-9 p.m. - Current Student Chats and Parent Chats

Optional Activities on Your Own:
We invite you to explore campus and the city of Athens while you're here. Uptown Athens features more than 30 local shops, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. Shop for your OHIO gear at one of the many book and apparel stores on Court Street, and grab a bite to eat before you head home - choose from pastry shops, full-service restaurants, diners, and food trucks.
Explore Athens County! Southeast Ohio is surrounded by many state parks, lakes, and recreational activities, including the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway and Hocking Hills.
Lodging and Meals
Undergraduate Admissions will provide one double room at the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center for the night of Friday, March 22, at no cost. Hotel policy requires that you put a credit card on file upon check-in to cover any incidentals or charges incurred during your stay. The hotel provides free parking.
For your convenience, Undergraduate Admissions will run shuttles on Friday between The Ohio University Inn & Conference Center to campus (Baker University Center) at designated times throughout the program.
On Friday, a business casual dinner is provided for you and your guests and will feature guest speakers and current students. On Saturday, a hearty breakfast will be provided at the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center.
