Application Status Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are the frequently asked questions about your application status in your MyOHIO Student Center. If your question is not listed, or if you would like additional information, please email Undergraduate Admissions or call 740.593.4100.

My application status says "Incomplete." What does that mean?

Your application status will say "Incomplete" when there are items on your To Do List that need to be completed, such as submitting a transcript or ACT/SAT test scores.

Application Status: Incomplete
Application Status: Incomplete
My To Do List contains items that have already been sent to Ohio University. What does that mean?

Undergraduate Admissions is receiving a high volume of applications and academic credentials. Please remember that while Undergraduate Admissions may have received your application materials (transcripts, test scores, etc.) via postal mail or electronically, updates can be provided only on those application materials that have been fully processed. Please allow a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks to complete the review process of your file.

My application status contains a due date for items on my To Do List. What does that mean?

Due Dates are created as suggested timelines for submitting your application materials. Please refer to the Apply web page for application deadlines.

My application status says "Complete." What does that mean?

There are two reasons that your application status will say complete.

  1. Your application status will say "Complete" when all To Do Lists items have been completed. At this time, your application will be reviewed by Undergraduate Admissions to determine if you are eligible for admission to the University.
  2. Your application status will change from "Admitted" to "Complete" after you have accepted your offer of admission to the University. At this time, you will need to follow the steps on the Admitted Student page to confirm your intent to enroll at OHIO.
Application status: Complete
My application status changed from "Complete" to "Incomplete." What does that mean?

Your application status will change to "Incomplete" when an item has been added to your To Do List, such as a request for additional ACT/SAT test scores or an updated transcript.

Application status: Changed to incomplete
My application status says "Admitted." What does that mean?

Congratulations! Your application status will say "Admitted" if you have been admitted or accepted to Ohio University.  Your official communication will be coming soon!

Application status: Admitted
My application status says "Accept or Decline." What does that mean?

Upon admission to the University, you can accept or decline the University's offer.

  • After accepting the offer, you will need to follow the steps on the Admitted Student page to confirm your intent to enroll at the University.
  • After declining the offer, no further action is required. Your application will be withdrawn from the University. If you declined the offer in error or change your mind, please email Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@ohio.edu or call 740.593.4100.
Application status: Accept or decline
My personal information (such as contact information, demographic data, or emergency contact details) is incorrect. How can I correct this?

Please email Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@ohio.edu or call 740.593.4100 to have your personal information corrected. Please note that official documentation may be required.

I applied to an academic program with more selective admissions guidelines [College of Business, Russ College of Engineering and Technology (not applicable to Aviation Flight), E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, School of Media Arts and Studies, or School of Nursing], but my application status indicates University College. What does that mean?

If you do not initially meet that program's more selective admission criteria, but you meet the University admission guidelines, you will be offered admission to University College. Your letter of admission will provide further details on the possibility of appealing the admission decision or applying to another academic program.

Application status: University College
I applied to the School of Dance, School of Film, School of Music, School of Visual Communication or the Aviation Flight major, but my application status also lists University College. What does that mean?

If you meet the University admission guidelines, you will be offered admission to University College pending your successful audition, portfolio review, interview and/or supplemental application for admission to the more selective admission program. If you are not admitted to the more selective program but you have been admitted to University College, your offer of admission to the University remains valid.

Multiple Colleges listed
I applied to the School of Theater or School of Art + Design, and my application status lists "Fine Arts” twice. What does that mean?

If you meet the University admission guidelines, you will be offered admission to the BA program in your respective School pending your successful audition, portfolio review, and/or interview for admission to the more selective admission program. "Fine Arts" appears twice to represent your status within the BA program and, separately, within the BFA program. If both "Fine Arts" rows are "complete" or "admitted," then OHIO has received your audition, portfolio, and/or interview. If one or more of your "Fine Arts" rows say "incomplete," then you should check your To Do List to view additional items that you need to submit.

COFA application status: Complete

COFA application status: Incomplete

To review your status in each program, click on the "Admissions" tab. From there, you can select each major to review individually. BA majors are represented by a plan code that begins with the letters "BA." BFA majors are represented by a plan code that begins with the letters "BF."

BA = admitted/BFA = applicant

If your BA program status is "admitted" and your BFA program status is "applicant," then your audition, portfolio, and/or interview are still under review.

COFA BA status: Admitted

COFA BFA status: Applicant
BA = cancelled/BFA = admitted

If your BA program status is "cancelled" and your BFA program status is "admitted," then you have been admitted to the BFA program.

COFA BA status: Cancelled

COFA BFA status: Admitted
BA = admitted/BFA = cancelled

If your BA program status is "admitted" and your BFA program status is "cancelled," then you have not been offered admission to the BFA program. Your admission to the BA program and the University remain valid.

COFA BA status: Admitted

COFA BFA status: Cancelled

I applied to the Honors Tutorial College (HTC), but my application also lists another academic college. What does that mean?

If you meet the University admission guidelines, you will be offered admission to the University in the College most closely related to your intended Honors Tutorial College (HTC) major. HTC will review your application and notify you if the College decides to proceed further with your HTC application. If you have questions about the status of your HTC application, please email HTC at honors.college@ohio.edu or call 740.593.2723.
