Departmental Accessibility Consultation
Intentional engagement of university departments in a consultation process is a key element in advancing institutional progress toward increased accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. Through the consultation process, the Office for University Accessibility will assist departments in reflection of their self-assessment responses and goals, review progress since completion of the assessment, establish specific goals that may be achieved in a 6-month period, provide sufficient technical assistance to support departments in reaching their goals, and develop departmental knowledge and confidence to continue progress after consultation is complete. The consultation process will be similar for each department; however, goals and outcomes will vary depending on departmental functions, priorities, and strategic opportunities.

The Office for University Accessibility, including Student Accessibility Services, serves as a primary resource regarding disability and accessibility. We are committed to providing training to faculty, staff, and students to support accessibility and inclusion. OUA plans to offer pre-scheduled trainings on topics which apply to a broad audience during the 2019-2020 academic year. However, you may request a training for your department, class, organization at any time by completing this .
Although training helps to develop a greater understanding of a variety of accessibility and inclusion issues, our “how-to” guidance on common questions intended to assist a department or individual with implementing inclusive and accessible practices.
