Established in 1979, the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Ohio University provides an opportunity to explore gender and its intersection with race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, sexuality, and other elements of diversity. The program promotes interdisciplinary teaching and research in the lives of women across myriad social and cultural contexts; it builds ties among scholars across campus and provides a locus of feminist scholarship and activism on the campus, in the community, and beyond. The Women’s and Gender Studies curriculum introduces students to a wide range of theoretical and practical perspectives on the influence and meaning of gender in the human experience across time and cultures.
