Departmental Web Sites

Web services offers two choices for academic and administrative units to host their web sites. Information in these sites must be official in nature.

  • CommonSpot Content Management System web site. This solution is ideal for units that have several folks who update the site on a regular basis, or that have a high turn-over rate in the position(s) who are responsible for updating the web presence. It is not a requirement to understand HTML or other web technologies to maintain the site using this solution.
  • Static-page server web site. This solution may be ideal for departments that have a web master who is dedicated to updating the web presence regularly, is knowledgeable in HTML and possibly additional web technologies.

With either option, departments will be required to adhere to Ohio University Brand standards as they apply to the web.

Submit a Request

To request a new site or a redesign of an existing site, fill out the Web Request Form (Excel spreadsheet) and attach the request to a ticket using the Customer Service Portal (www.ohio.edu/oittech). Web Services offers assistance in planning content, design, and development of departmental sites.
