The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs is currently hiring for the following three positions:

Senior Associate Director

This person will oversee the School’s operations, efforts in assessing and analyzing financial goals, execute School strategy, and assist the Dean in developing the educational and public service strategy consistently with the School’s mission and core values. Internal responsibilities include marketing activities, business analysis, staffing plans, leadership development, assessment of effectiveness and point of accountability for the School’s operational processes and procedures. External responsibilities include business development, delivery of high-quality client work, fostering relationships with relevant partners within the University, State and local communities.

Minimum: Master’s Degree MBA, MPA or closely related and at least 8 years of work and management experience or executive level experience at government or non-profit organization.

Preferred: Doctoral degree and 8 years or more of management experience or executive level experience at government or non-profit organization. Corporate and/or higher education experience.

Senior Field Ecologist

Qualified and experienced individual sought to support an emerging and complimentary project area with the School’s energy and environmental program, Consortium for Energy, Economics and the Environment (CE3). Serve as a manager and applied researcher for this emerging area, will be responsible for daily administration, for developing and overseeing project-related work of assigned staff, will lead botanical and wildlife studies, will seek and secure programmatic funding that will enhance and sustain this project area, and will participate in the development and execution of this new growth area. Qualified candidates will have the ability to conduct botanical and ecological studies, manage a team of staff and student field ecologists, develop and maintain interdisciplinary research projects, pursue project funding, collaborate with other organizations, and conduct education and outreach.

A minimum of a Master’s Degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience in the field of environmental biology, environmental studies, environmental geography, or field ecology and at least 6 years of managerial experience. Knowledge and experience in botanical and ecological studies. Demonstrated ability to pursue and secure project funding. High level computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel. May work nights and weekends in order to meet project and reporting deadlines. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel outside Athens area including overnight travel to conduct research and meet with project sponsors and research participants.

Research Associate I

Quantitatively trained individual sought to support the School’s applied research in health, education and community economic development. As a key member of multidisciplinary project teams, provide technical assistance, data analysis and evaluation services to governmental and non-profit organizations throughout Ohio. Qualified candidates will have the ability to utilize database and statistical software programs to organize, manage and analyze data, interpret findings and prepare reports summarizing findings using graphical presentations and non-technical language, move multiple tasks forward simultaneously and learn new software and analytical methods.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree sociology, psychology, economics, public health, public administration or elated field, or Bachelor’s Degree & 4 – 5 years relevant prior experience
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree & prior experience in applied research, grant writing, evaluation, health, education or economic development.

Research Associate II

Qualified and experienced individual sought to support the School’s applied research and program evaluation in health, education and community economic development. Serve as a project manager for multidisciplinary applied research teams specializing in projects incorporating quantitative, qualitative and mixed research methods. Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative applied research protocols and evaluations for programs and policies, incorporating data analysis, individual interview, focus group and survey instrumentation development and testing. Qualified candidates will have the ability to utilize database and statistical software programs to organize, manage and analyze data, interpret findings and prepare reports summarizing findings using graphical presentations and non-technical language, move multiple tasks forward simultaneously and learn new software and analytical methods. Serve as Primary Investigator/Project Manager as requested by management.

A minimum of a Master’s Degree with 4 – 5 years of relevant experience or Ph.D plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Knowledge and experience with public, private non-profit and social service organizations and systems. High level computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, appropriate statistical software. May work nights and weekends in order to meet project and reporting deadlines Driver’s license and ability to travel outside Athens area including overnight travel to conduct research and meet with project sponsors and research participants Salary commensurate with experience.
