The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs is excited to welcome Dr. Sarah Davis, Assistant Professor in Environmental Studies. Dr. Davis is an ecosystem ecologist who has studied energy bioscience, biogeochemistry, and eco-physiology. In her work in bioenergy, she focuses on researching alternatives to corn ethanol and how those alternatives would impact the environment.

Before coming to Ohio University, Dr. Davis studied and taught plant biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. However, she notes that her passion for education was sparked during her time as the Assistant Director for the Regional Math/Science Center in Frostburg, Maryland, an alternative education program for under-privileged high school students, including many from the Appalachian area.

As someone who studies forest carbon cycling, Dr. Davis says she's glad to be back in a hilly and forested area. Dr. Davis is also looking forward to working with other members of the Voinovich School. As she says, "The Voinovich School is a progressive model for integrating research with education and the community." We look forward to working with Dr. Davis on many new and exciting projects.
