Workforce Development Forums Annouced

(Athens, Ohio — May 4, 2011) The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs will team up with several groups to host a work force development forum in Nelsonville next month.
The Career Pathways Forum will be held at 9:30 a.m. to noon on May 12 at the Inn at Hocking College, 15770 State Route 691, Nelsonville, OH 45764. The forum’s sponsors and partners include the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Board of Regents, the University System of Ohio, the Governor’s Workforce Policy Advisory Board, the Ohio Environmental Council and Wright State University’s Center for Urban and Public Affairs.
The forum will be the first of five held around the state presenting the findings of a study funded by the U.S. Department of Labor concerning green jobs in Ohio and related training and education.
Topics discussed will include a survey of Ohio employers regarding the demand for green jobs, types of green jobs and related skills, best practices in green jobs training, and training and education programs related to green jobs within the University System of Ohio.
The discussion will be aimed at economic development officials, educators, employers, elected officials, and work force development officials.
