Jonathan Olivito presents undergraduate thesis at national convention alongside distinguished historians and other scholars

Ohio University Masters of Public Administration student Jonathan Olivito attended the Phi Alpha Theta 2010 Biennial Convention in San Diego to present the final chapter of his undergraduate thesis, Religious Syncretism and the Power of the Church in Late Eighteenth Century Colonial Peru.
Olivito’s thesis was inspired by themes of Peruvian rebellion that were introduced to him during a history survey course as an Honors Tutorial College student. Also a student of Spanish, he was able to conduct bilingual research in order to complete his work.
In addition to his undergraduate education in the Honors Tutorial College, Olivito spent his junior and senior years at the Voinovich School under the tutelage of Rekha Strader, Robin Stewart and their project team members. Now, as a graduate student in the MPA program, he is working for the Voinovich School on applied policy projects such as a study examining teacher and principal views on the implementation of a statewide, data-driven high school reform initiative.
