OHIO UNIVERSITY LANCASTER
Submitted by Jennifer LaRue,
Campus Relations Coordinator, Ohio University Lancaster

New Front Door at Lancaster Campus

Enrollment is up at the Lancaster Campus and the Pickerington Center a combined four percent.  More than 500 students are now enrolled at the Pickerington Center.

To help meet the needs of the larger student body, Campus Dean MaryAnn Janosik announced in mid-November that University and Campus officials, as well as members of the Campus’s Coordinating Council, agreed that securing renovations for the Hannah V. McCauley Library and gymnasium outweighed the need to move forward on the building of a new community conference center. Plans to construct a conference center have been postponed indefinitely to, as Janosik stated, “focus on two of the campus arms that most effectively embrace community outreach: the library and the gym.”
Other noteworthy events include the “new front door” at the Lancaster Campus, which opened in time to welcome hundreds of voters.  In addition to a new entrance, the renovation of Brasee Hall includes a bi-level lobby with a vending area and gathering space on the second level; a new, highly visible welcome desk; a theatre vestibule for light and sound lock; new gym and library entrances; and space for a bookstore.

A new partnership with Fairfield County Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities established the Lancaster Campus as a training and employment site for food service and vending.  October sales produced the highest revenue in two years for The Zone, located on the lower level of the Campus.
