First-Year Enhancement (FYE)

Make a Difference: TEACH UC 115!

Would you like to teach a class that can help first quarter Ohio University students succeed?

It is once again time to recruit instructors for the fall quarter UC 115 orientation course for Ohio University first year students. UC 115 is taught by a select group of volunteers made up of faculty, administrators, graduate students, and with the support of undergraduate Peer Instructors who want the opportunity to interact with a small class of first quarter Ohio University students.

The course meets on the Athens campus for an hour twice a week (you will be able to select a meeting time that fits your schedule), and the curriculum includes such topics as Ohio University resources, making wise choices, and major and career exploration. A syllabus is provided, along with training. No previous experience in teaching is required. Your role is as a resource, mentor, and facilitator, and the goal is to help students adjust and succeed. If you are interested in co-teaching the class, a limited number of undergraduate Peer Instructors will be available, or you may co-teach with someone else of your choosing.

If you think you would like to teach a section of UC 115 this fall, or if you have further questions, please contact Amy Six, Coordinator of First Year Seminar, by phone or e-mail (sixa@ohio.edu; 593-1935).
