Goals of Commuter + Adult Student Services

1. Supply first-year commuter and adult students with information regarding campus resources and activities.
2. Provide a connection between commuter and adult students and the university through the use of peer mentors.
3. Arrange academic support and services for commuter and adult students.
4. Improve the academic success and performance rates of commuter and adult students.
5. Raise the awareness of the Ohio University community to prevalent commuter and adult student issues.

Programs

Mentor Program- Every first-year commuter and adult student has a Mentor. Mentors are upper class students, who are available to answer questions, offer suggestions for places to study or how to get extra help, and in general, are great resources. Mentors usually contact students via e-mail through their OAK accounts, so it is important to access that account as soon as possible. Recognition Days- Commuter Student + Adult Appreciation week is during spring quarter (last week of April). During this week, Commuter + Adult Student Services plans daily activities ranging from picnics and breakfast at Peden Stadium to having a table at the College Gate to provide the university community information about commuter and adult students.

Each quarter Commuter + Adult Student Services also sponsors a free lunch as a way of recognizing the efforts of commuter and adult students. For more information about either of these activities, please talk to one of the mentors.

Tutoring - Commuter + Adult Student Services offers freshman and first-year commuter and adult students free tutoring services. Please contact Laura Chapman or Lora Munsell at 593-1935. You must be registered with Commuter + Adult Student Services to receive free tutoring.
