Internships are a wonderful way to gain experience in your potential career field. Many internships do not pay wages, but through SpSt 490 you may earn academic credit for your work. Not only do internships look good on your resume, they also provide you the opportunity to network with professionals who may someday offer you a full-time job or provide you with leads to a great position.

Here are some ways to find an internship.

1. Visit the Career Services office on any campus. On a regular basis, employers send internship postings to these offices.
2. Check with the BSS director who may have names of BSS alums who are looking for interns.
3. Call the human resource office of the companies you like and ask about their internship programs. Internships are often found on businesses and organizations' Web sites also.
4. Check the library for books listing internship sites. Peterson's Internships is a good reference to consult.

Once you have secured the internship complete the internship application and meet with the BSS director to review your job description and the internship course assignments.
