| Richard K. Brackin Scholarship
What is it?
The Richard K. Brackin Scholarship was established in 1998 to honor Dr. Richard Keith Brackin as he retired from University College. He served as director of the Bachelor of Specialized Studies (BSS) program for 19 years. Additionally, Dr. Brackin directed the college’s programs for non-traditional students. The scholarship recognizes his efforts with these two groups of students. This year, we will award two scholarships, at $500 each.
Who Qualifies?
The Brackin Scholarship is available to non-traditional BSS students (as described in the application) with a minimum 2.80 accumulative grade point average and who are at least 30 hours from graduation beginning fall term of the next academic year. Applicants must be registered for at least eight (8) hours of credit per term. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement (including any transfer work), a written statement, and two recommendations, one from a faculty member and one from the student’s advisor. Information regarding financial need is optional, but may be used, if provided, in the selection process.
