The University Academic Advising Council (UAAC) and University College offer advising workshops and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff advisors. One-on-one and group training is available upon request on a variety of advising-related topics, including:

  • Advising 101 - An introduction to academic advising at Ohio University.
  • Technology in Advising - An overview of on-line resources to assist students and advisors and support the advising process.
  • Advising Students in Academic Difficulty - Strategies and resources for advising students on academic probation or those facing other situations of academic difficulty.
  • Helping Students make "Major" Decisions - Approaches to working with undecided students, those who are changing majors, or in need of "re-direction."

Workshops may be arranged to meet the specific advising needs of a particular college or department.
