Human Resources (HR) wanted a way to promote job postings via Twitter. Rather than using the University's main Twitter account, @OhioU, they were counseled to set up their own. Training occurred and @OhioUjobs was born.
Originally, a request came from the Vice President for Finance and Administration Planning Unit to push job postings on @OhioU. However, @OhioU was unable to accommodate the request due to the Twitter account's intended audiences. The planning unit turned to HR for assistance, and HR reached out the UCM for a solution.
UCM suggested HR start its own Twitter feed and offered assistance and training. HR accepted the plan and underwent a training session before starting @OhioUjobs on Oct. 30, 2012.
The new Twitter feed has allowed HR to publicize numerous positions, with @OhioU retweeting when possible to further push postings and boost @OhioUjobs' follower numbers.
