The purpose of the project is to highlight the expertise of outstanding OHIO faculty as a way to both recognize their achievements and support student recruitment. The videos tell a story of who they are and the passion they have for their work. Additionally, they serve as a means to elevate the stature of the faculty member’s college and/or regional campus.
One of the initial challenges was developing the nomination and selection process as well as a system that would allow for featuring faculty members from both the Athens and regional campuses.
A second challenge was balancing the frequency and cost of the videos against UCM’s limited financial and personnel resources. It was decided that since we were initiating the project, resources permitting, we would attempt to cover the cost of two FAV videos per annum (one each semester).
We selected the faculty members to be highlighted in the first two videos from Ohio Magazine's annual "Excellence in Education" feature—a list of top University faculty from both the Athens and regional campuses compiled by the provost’s office for the publication. From this feature, the provost then selects one Athens campus faculty member and one regional campus faculty member to be profiled in this video series, with one debuting each semester. The series got off to a great start with a well-received first installment featuring Zanesville Campus faculty member Tarig Higazi.
It was also decided that if colleges wished to highlight their faculty with videos using this same approach UCM could do so, but such additional entries in this video series would be fee based.
I am interested in promoting my Ohio University college/department/program through a printed piece, video, or website. Can you help me?
Thanks for asking! We work with units across the University to help them promote their programs.
For printed pieces and videos, the first step is to click here or on the “Get Started” button on the left side of this page in order to complete and submit a Project Inquiry Form. The information you provide to us will then be evaluated by our team and we will let you know whether we have the resources available to meet your needs.
UCM works on University websites in collaboration with the Office for Information Technology (OIT) under the direction of Web Services. If you would like to request a Web project, please click here to visit the OIT site for more information and links to appropriate forms.
Can someone come and speak to our campus group about University communications and marketing-related topics?
Please click here to e-mail us with a description of your needs at least three weeks in advance of the event.
