The executive director of University Communications and Marketing maintains a blog as a means to enhance awareness of ongoing University promotional efforts, offer perspectives on institutional branding, provide opportunity for direct feedback, and foster collaboration among the academic community. The blog is also flavored with personal insights that reflect UCM’s role as storytellers and stewards of the OHIO brand. Learn more
UCM produced Ohio University’s annual President’s Report publication and corresponding website, highlighting some of the many recent accomplishments of OHIO students, faculty, staff, and alumni. This most recent edition also concisely conveyed such key institutional achievements as OHIO’s record enrollment numbers and $1.5 billion economic impact on the state. This signature project is shared with both internal and external audiences, supporting efforts to elevate Ohio University’s standing among elite peer institutions across the nation. Learn more
UCM’s Creative Services Team produced more than 60 videos last year to serve a variety of University needs—ranging from admissions recruitment commercials that reached regional and national television audiences to videos that promoted specific OHIO programs to a profile of Distinguished Professor recipient Tom Carpenter. We welcome opportunities to collaborate on such projects with clients across the institution. Learn more
OHIO’s University Libraries came to UCM looking for assistance in developing a visual identity to celebrate the unit’s 200th anniversary. The scope of our collaboration ultimately expanded to encompass a much greater promotional effort, with UCM designing a book, creating a video, and producing a Compass series. Related merchandise such as banners and pins were also made available to promote and celebrate the Libraries’ historic milestone. Learn more
Using the media monitoring software Vocus®, UCM established 24 automated news reports that are e-mailed daily to each college and regional campus. These reports are customized with keywords to deliver news stories that mention a specific Ohio University college, its faculty, or alumni. They are distributed to campus communicators and other departments or organizations often featured in the news such as Hillel, Ohio University Police Department, and Ohio University Press. This unique initiative for Ohio University and within the state will set a single rate for tuition, room and meal plan, and fees for Athens Campus new first year and transfer undergraduates beginning fall 2015. After receiving implementation approval from the chancellor in spring 2014, UCM began spearheading the promotional effort by producing videos, a website, and related articles in Compass. UCM also will incorporate The OHIO Guarantee into future advertising and admissions materials, continuing to raise awareness of this significant benefit of the OHIO experience. Learn more
