Every year, University Communications and Marketing (UCM) produces projects that advance Ohio University’s standing among the premier institutions of higher education. This calendar highlights a few of our most recent projects.
UCM’s External Communications Team pitches news stories and experts and maintains ties with regional and national media to help promote Ohio University’s people and programs. The team also maintains the Expert Directory, an online resource that simplifies finding OHIO’s best research minds on a variety of topics and provides an especially useful tool for external news media. The team’s efforts and the Expert Directory helped generate 12,199 media mentions of Ohio University during FY 2012–13. Learn more
To positively position the University’s image and reputation, over the past three years, we’ve engaged in a series of quantitative studies and working sessions with stakeholders to find a meaningful, differentiating focus for OHIO. “It’s you” is the core theme, which will be incorporated into a variety of creative materials, including this year’s undergraduate recruitment campaign. The concept reflects the idea that this is the place where you can be yourself and become your best self. It’s the right fit. Ohio University: it’s you. Learn more
UCM created videos to acquaint the University community with deans who have recently joined OHIO. UCM’s video production personnel worked with dean’s offices to schedule interviews and develop questions. Stills and b-roll footage were integrated into the videos, which were produced and edited by UCM PACE students gaining hands-on experience. These videos have a value-added “extended life,” as they can be linked to in communications or posted to the colleges’ own websites. Learn more
This project series enabled Undergraduate Admissions to send focused promotional materials to prospective students interested in specific OHIO academic programs. UCM’s Creative Team developed high-quality booklets that included new photography featuring current students. To date, UCM has produced 12 targeted enrollment brochures representing more than 60 programs. In addition, UCM produced a publication specifically to advance admissions recruitment efforts among international students and another to promote OHIO’s online programs. Learn more
UCM’s creation of OHIO’s first Social Media Directory has provided a repository for all of the University’s official social media accounts. From academic programs to campus offices, the directory is an important resource to keep the campus community and the public up to date on the latest ways to stay in touch and promote the vision and goals of Ohio University. College Spotlights offered each college within the University an opportunity to showcase its unique nature and significant achievements. UCM worked with campus communicators to secure photographs and captions for the photo essays. The Spotlights ran in conjunction with Vision in Action stories about faculty/staff giving, as coordinated with University Advancement. Learn more
