Ohio University further update on West Union Street Office Center evacuation

The WMD team completed preliminary field tests and indicated there were no harmful substances present. The envelope was packaged for safe removal and the area was decontaminated. The FBI's preliminary investigation determined the circumstances did not warrant opening a federal case, so the investigation was turned over to OUPD. The WMD team completed their processing of the scene and declared the office safe for occupancy shortly after the package was removed. The Legal Affairs Office and People's Bank will reopen and resume normal operations today.

There is no additional action needed for faculty, staff, and students.

In today's Compass, there will be an article with tips on handling suspicious packages.
