J. Patrick Campbell, a 1971 graduate of Ohio University, is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Universal Companies and prior to that served as its Chief Executive Officer. Universal Companies is a leading international distributor of products, equipment, and supplies to spas, skincare professionals, and resort and destination properties. Mr. Campbell additionally serves on the board of directors of Rocky Brands, Inc., The E. F. Wildermuth Foundation and The Ohio University Foundation as its Vice Chairman. From 2002 to the present, Mr. Campbell has been primarily engaged in a corporate turnaround practice and is a recognized authority on financial markets and in the areas of corporate structure, finance and governance matters. Mr. Campbell retired as the President of Nasdaq U.S. Markets in December 2001. From January 1997 to December 2001, he held various executive positions at the Nasdaq Stock Market, including Chief Operating Officer for Nasdaq Inc. and Chairman of Nasdaq Investment Products. Prior to joining Nasdaq, Mr. Campbell worked as a Senior Executive Vice President for The Ohio Company from 1971 to 1996 and served as a member of their board of directors. Mr. Campbell retired as a Command Pilot from the United States Air Force (Ohio Air National Guard) having been awarded The Bronze Star, the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and other decorations. Mr. Campbell and his wife Ellen (a Columbus, Ohio native) reside in Potomac, Maryland.
