OIT offers free labor for Gateway warranty holders

February 6, 2009
by Sean O'Malley

Although Gateway/MPC stopped honoring warranties in the wake of its November 6, 2008 bankruptcy, OIT plans to continue offering free labor on Gateway warranty repairs to OHIO students, faculty and staff.

For a Gateway repair to be eligible for free labor, it must still be within the original warranty period, the repair must qualify under the original warranty terms, and the computer must belong either to an academic or administrative department or to an individual with a valid Oak ID.

Because OIT now has to purchase Gateway parts from independent vendors, individuals with warranty claims will have to pay for any replacement parts.

For questions about Gateway warranty repairs, contact the OIT Service Desk at 740-593-1222 or visit the Technology Depot in Baker Center 112.
