Daylight Saving and Personal Computers March 6, 2008 by Sean O'Malley Daylight saving time (DST) begins several weeks early this year, but most personal computer owners should not have to worry about updating their system clocks. Microsoft and Apple released operating system updates earlier this year that compensate for the new schedule automatically. If you are running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X version 10.3 or newer and have automatic updates enabled, your computer should adjust its internal clock automatically on March 9.
Owners of older systems and those who have chosen not to enable automatic updates may have to adjust their system clocks manually. Both Microsoft and Apple offer easy guides to daylight saving time adjustments on their Web sites.
