Configuring Eudora to use LDAP

  1. Open Eudora.
  2. Under Tools choose Directory Services.
  3. Under "Databases choose" Ohio University LDAP from the Configured Servers list and click Modify...

    If "Ohio University" does not appear under "Configured Servers", select LDAP under Protocols and click New Database... before continuing to step 4 below.
     
  4. On the Network tab, enter the following:
    • Reference name: Ohio University
    • Host name: edirectory.ohio.edu
    • Port: 389

  5. On the Attributes tab, choose Add...
  6. In the resulting window, enter the following and click Ok:
    • Attribute Name: phoneNumber
    • Presented As: choose Phone (w)
    • Data Format: choose Text string (in ASCII)

  7. On the Attributes tab, choose Add... again.
  8. In the resulting window, enter the following and click Ok:
    • Attribute Name: eduPersonPrincipalName
    • Presented As: choose Email (w)
    • Data Format: choose Text string (in ASCII)

  9. Click Ok to close the Modify Database window.
  10. Make sure Ohio University has a check mark next to it in the list of Configured Servers.
  11. To look someone up, use the Query box in the Directory Services window.  Make sure to search by name only - searching by Oak ID will not work.

Mac Instructions (return to top)
 
  1. Open Eudora.
  2. Go to the Special menu and choose Settings...
  3. On the left side of the Settings window, scroll through the icon list and choose the LDAP icon.
  4. Enter edirectory.ohio.edu as the Directory Services Host and click Ok.

  5. To look someone up, got to Window and choose Directory Services.  You must query by name.  Searching by Oak ID does not work.
