Printing in Computer Labs

These printing procedures apply in the Alden Library, Baker University Center, Computer Services Center, Boyd Hall, Brown Hall, Grover Center, and McCracken computer labs.

Students Printing for Themselves
(print by using OAK Login ID & Password)

  • Up to 50 pages per month are free ("monthly quota").  Monthly quota balances cannot be carried forward from month to month.

  • The fee is 5¢ per page after the monthly quota of 50 free pages is used.

  • Print charges are billed electronically by the Bursar, and appear on monthly student bills, on the first day of the following month. Charges appear as a single line item, labeled "Computer Lab Printing Fee."

  • To view number of pages printed, when, and where, go to:  http://prtchrgs.admsrv.ohio.edu/ within 24 hours of printing in one of the above areas.

  • It should be noted that procedurally, a charge is not incurred by students until their print job has successfully been processed by the printer. Although a job may have been authenticated by the user, it is only logged as a valid charge when the printer completes the printout.

Color Printing Fees

Color printing is available in the Alden, Baker, Boyd, Brown, and CSC computer labs at the cost of 25-cents per page (with no free monthly quota).

Why are Printing Fees Being Charged?

Printing volume and costs have climbed exponentially.  Rising costs of supplies, unbounded printing, and a more than 25% waste factor necessitates a minimal printing charge to reduce waste, recover some costs for paper and toner, and contain unbounded printing.

Requesting a Print Credit

Requests may be made for bad pages that are printed due to toner problems, printer jams, etc.  Print Credit Request Forms are available in each computer lab. You must turn in all pages for which you wish to receive credit.  Your request will be reviewed within three business days, Monday through Friday.  If it is determined that you are owed a credit, then the credit will be applied to your printing account, enabling you to print an equivalent number of pages at no charge.  In order to receive a credit, you must provide the following information requested on the Print Credit Request Form.  In addition, you must submit your credit request within 48 hours of receiving bad or damaged pages.  The decision regarding your request for credit will be e-mailed to your OAK account via the OAK Login ID you list below.

Students may view information about their specific printing charges within 24 hours of printing by going to:  http://prtchrgs.admsrv.ohio.edu/   (Any credits applied to your printing account will not show up on this web page.)  For assistance – or if the charge has already been applied to your student bill and you need to have the charge taken off your bill – please call the OIT Service Desk at 593-1222 or send an email to servicedesk@ohio.edu.
