Offices, classrooms, labs, departmental meeting spaces, and residence hall rooms on campus come standard with at least one high-speed, always-available, Ethernet jack for accessing the campus network and the Internet. Connections are either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, depending on location. OIT currently is in the midst of a series of projects (some completed, some still in the planning phase) to upgrade primary academic and administrative locations to 100 Mbps.
By Spring 2008, all devices on the residence hall wired network must be registered before they can access the wired network. For more information on network registration, see below.
