There are so many opportunities for you to volunteer on campus sustainability projects and programs throughout the year. Keep your eyes open for the new Office of Sustainability web publication, Routes, which will outline not only the projects but the opportunities available in our office to advance campus sustainability projects!
If you're more than just a little interested in the work of the Office of Sustainability, why not consider a quarter-long internship?

Periodically, the Office of Sustainability hires student workers for paid positions as project assistants, graphic designers, and outreach coordinators. All eligible students are encouraged to submit an application.
Internships are available every quarter. Interns must commit to 8 hours of work per week for the duration of the quarter. These positions are unpaid and are awarded each quarter on a competitive basis. To apply, submit a resume and a cover letter by the end of the first week of classes in the quarter you would like to serve. The cover letter should address your interest in the position, what you feel you could bring to our office, and some information about why sustainability issues matter to you. All materials should be submitted electronically to sustainability@ohio.edu
Ohio University owns and operates the largest composting machine at any college or university in the nation. Composting allows us to divert a significant proportion of our organic waste stream, creating a valuable soil amendment while reducing the amount of methane gas emitted by our local landfill.
Student workers are a vital component of this project. We are not currently hiring any new students for the 2011-2012 academic year, but you are welcome to submit an application at any time which we will review on a rolling basis and keep on file until a position becomes available.

Ohio University campus recycling program is known from coast to coast for its groundbreaking and innovative work on behalf of waste reduction and diversion. Campus Recycling is not currently hiring any new students, but positions become available throughout the school year. Questions? Contact recycle@ohio.edu.
