
Winter Closure Information - Frequently Asked Questions
Below is important information for students regarding the winter closure period at OHIO. The winter closure is a special period within the normal winter break during which most university buildings and offices will be closed. The winter closure will occur December 25, 2012 - January 1, 2013.
What is the process for requesting interim housing during the closure?
Reservations are required for interim/temporary housing. The application for reservations is found on the Residential Housing website, here: http://www.ohio.edu/housing/gi/student.cfm
When is the Winter Closure?
Winter Closure: December 25- January 1
Winter Closure is not the same as Winter Break, which will take place December 15, 2012- January 13, 2013.
What student service offices will be closed?
Chubb Hall and academic offices will be closed for all student services between December 25 through January 1 2013.

f. All primary academic offices
Who should I contact in the event of an emergency during the winter closure?
Contact 911 or Ohio University Police Department: 740-593-1911.
Will all students have to leave campus?
No, Residential Housing will house interim housing, winter sport athletes, international students, and specialized programs.

What facilities will be closed and/or provide limited services?
a. Residence Halls- Will be closed, except for interim housing, winter sport athletes, international students, and specialized programs.
b. Dining Facilities- Closed December 15, 2012 after breakfast, open for brunch on Jaunary 13, 2013. Winter sport athletes, international students, and specialized programs will work with dining services to address dining needs. c. Recreation Facilities- Ping Center: Closed December 15, 2012- January 12, 2013.
d. Baker University Center- Closed from December 25, 2012- January 1, 2013.
e. Alden Library- Closed December 22, 2012- January 1, 2013.
f. Campus Care- Closed December 23, 2012- January 1, 2013.

b. Counseling & Psychological Services- Will be open December 16-22 (9am-5pm).
c. Residential Housing On-Call Staff- Residential Housing On-Call staff will be shared with those students in interim housing, OR call OUPD.
d. Student Affairs On-Call Staff- Contact Ohio University Police Department in the event of an emergency.
