Greetings Bobcats! Welcome to the first post of our new wellness blog, healthYOU. The purpose of this blog is to share ideas, activities, and tips about promoting overall wellness throughout the Division of Student Affairs, Ohio University, and the surrounding community.
Just a word about what we mean by “wellness.” Our concept of wellness comes from the model promoted by the National Wellness Institute, which features six major aspects of wellness: Social, Physical, Occupational, Spiritual, Emotional, and Intellectual.
As you can probably guess, there’s a lot of overlap among these six aspects, and some things might not fit neatly into just one category. So it’s important to keep in mind that it’s all connected – or in other words, health in one area tends to affect health in most (if not all) other areas.
We’ll be updating the blog regularly with postings by members of the Division Wellness Committee and other guest posters. From time to time we’ll invite your comments, ideas, and feedback. We’ll have to edit reader postings for clarity and relevance, but we’ll try to be responsive to all serious suggestions and ideas. So if you have an idea for a topic that you’d like to blog about, or have a suggestion of something you’d like to see in HealthYOU, let us know!
