The Interdisciplinary Electronic Journal of African Sport
Submission Policies and Guidelines
IMPUMELELO, The Interdisciplinary Electronic Journal of African Sport, is a refereed, online journal that is published semiannually. The journal seeks papers that analyze African sport from political, communication, sociological, anthropological, historical, and sports science perspectives. The journal endeavors to link theory and practice by including discussions of development initiatives on the continent that utilize sports. We also encourage submissions of scholarly work that reach beyond the continent and into the African Diaspora. To qualify for consideration, submissions must meet the standards of the appropriate discipline. For example, people in the field of communications will review a submission that examines sports and media in Africa. We especially welcome articles that incorporate a multi-disciplinary perspective or approach, and will utilize professionals from appropriate disciplines to review. We expect that the content of all manuscripts to be original and the article not to have been accepted for publication elsewhere.
A brief abstract of no more than 300 words and biographical description of the author(s) that includes institutional affiliation and current research interests are to accompany any submission. The biographical information should be attached as a separate document to ensure the anonymity of the author. We prefer submissions be via e-mail and that author(s) please include an e-mail address(es) for contact. The Editor will acknowledge all submissions via e-mail and also correspondence through email is preferable. Author(s) can also submit diskettes or CD to the address below.
We prefer that manuscripts be submitted in MS Word, although formats are acceptable, such as WordPerfect or Rich Text format. Additionally, we prefer manuscripts be in Times New Roman 12 font with single-line spacing and consecutively numbered pages. If sending a diskette or CD, be sure to label with the author’s name, email and mailing addresses, and the file name and format. All graphics - tables, maps, diagrams, photos, etc. - should be submitted as separate documents, with reference to them in the text of the manuscript. If sending a diskette or CD, please include them as separate documents. The editors have the right to accept or to change the size or placement of all graphics.
Because of the journal’s online format, please use endnotes rather than footnotes when providing citations or for direct quotes. These endnotes should be placed at the end of the appropriate sentence and listed at the end of the manuscript under References Cited. In the References Cited section, sources should be listed in numbered order as cited in text, and include full bibliographical information for the source. In the event of questions about formatting and/or style, please feel free to contact the General Editor in advance of preparing the manuscript for submission. His e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
