The Singing Men of Ohio Society of Alumni & Friends
'Cause when you SMO, you SMO for life!

The purpose of this society is to support Ohio University and the Singing Men of Ohio and its alumni. Basing its traditions on its beloved glee club, the Singing Men of Ohio Alumni Society exists to “Create and Sustain Unity through Harmony”.

 

The SMOSAF, as it is abbreviated, sponsors yearly events in support of the Singing Men of Ohio including a Homecoming Tailgate, a SMOSAF Retreat, and various receptions and alumni events. The largest SMOSAF sponsored event is the annual Singing Men of Ohio Alumni Weekend and Concert. In collaboration with the Singing Men of Ohio, the SMOSAF hosts a weekend of brotherhood activities throughout the weekend for the group and the many SMO alumni that return for the weekend’s festivities. Events include many receptions that allow current members to meet and interact with their alumni brothers, musical rehearsals, the SMO Alumni Dinner & Celebration, and the annual SMO Alumni Winter Concert. In 2007 the SMOSAF received the Ohio University Alumni Association’s “Most Innovative Program Award” for their efforts during this alumni weekend. In 2006 the SMOSAF received the Ohio University Alumni Association’s honored “Outstanding Society Award”. The Singing Men of Ohio Alumni Society is honored to also award our own alumni and current SMO members for their efforts at both the SMO Alumni Weekend and at the end of the year SMO Banquet on campus.
