First round of PeopleSoft servers arrives on site
Data center equipment "racked and ready"
November 4, 2009 - While the Rufus Initiative team works with faculty, staff and students to refine the basic look and feel of Ohio University's PeopleSoft implementation, OIT staff are preparing hardware that will help host that system.
OIT Systems and Operations staff recently finished installing 19 IBM blade servers in the university's data center.
Those servers will begin earning their keep in the coming weeks, as team members start using the new equipment for development, testing, training, and other behind-the-scenes work.
According to project director Shelley Ruff, having development environments hosted in the data center will help move the project forward. "Our people will be able to build and test their implementations in the actual place where the final versions will live," Ruff said.
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions will come online in phases, with the Admissions module slated for summer of 2010. Financial Aid will follow in late 2010, in preparation for awarding aid during the 2011-12 year. Student Records and Student Financials will come online during spring of 2011 to handle registrations and payments for summer 2011 and beyond.
