Senior Class Signature - FAQ's

Q: What are the goals of Senior Class Signature?

A: The Class of 2007 is striving for:
  • 100% participation - this goal was proposed by OHIO’s 20th President Dr. Roderick J. McDavis.

  • Trustee Challenge - Gifts of $20.07 or more will be matched by a University Trustee or Alumnus in an effort to support the campaign.

  • Ohio University Official Seal – All funds raised by the 2007 senior class will support the ”Pathway of Traditions” – Seal Project.  This project was developed by the Senior Class Council and other student leaders as a way to spur participation among seniors and as a way for the Class of 2007 to seal the deal and leave a lasting mark on Ohio University.  Visit the Senior Class Council Website for more information on the “Pathway to Traditions” – Seal Project.

  • Funds raised by May 30,2007: $10,000 plus is the monetary goal
It takes 40 gifts to increase participation 1%.

Q:  Why should I give to Senior Class Signature?

A:  Give because:
  • you want to help the Class of 2007 surpass the largest number of seniors to ever participate with a senior gift

  • you benefited from your OU experience and you want future students to have the same opportunity

  • you want to leave your mark at Ohio University

  • you want your name & dedication listed in The Post and at graduation

  • you want to outperform Miami of Ohio’s senior giving program

Q:  Why does my participation matter?

A:  Each year, a new goal is set by the senior class to raise more money and have a higher participation rate than previous classes.  A strong allegiance from the OU Senior Class will show the rest of the world what a first-rate institution you have attended.  Large foundations, alumni donors, and other charitable organizations measure the strength of alumni support for Ohio University by the percentage of alumni who give.  OU will receive greater support from these groups when they notice strong support from young alumni.  For example:
  • US News & World Report counts participation when ranking universities.  It believes levels of giving reflect the satisfaction of students and alumni.

  • Both public and private grants are awarded to universities based in part on their alumni giving percentages.

Q:  Where does my money go?

A:  Your money will support this year’s senior class project- “Pathway of Traditions”- Seal Project.  All gifts whether $10, $20.07, $30 or any other amount of your choosing will help support this exciting project.

Q:  How should I give?
A:  We are asking our seniors to give $20.07 or more in honor of their graduation year. Participation is the key to a successful campaign, so even a gift of $10.00 or any amount of your choosing will help.
