If your computer still appears to be infected with a virus after you have performed a manual scan, Ohio University offers a “Virus Removal CD”. This CD performs a scan on your computer without using any files on your computer, and will fix a large majority of viruses that are not normally able to be fixed while running Windows. If you find one necessary, you can obtain a CD from the Support Center Helpdesk, located at the third floor of the HDL building (160 W. Union St., Athens) To use a Virus Removal CD, you must set your computer to boot to the CD Drive before any other device or enter your boot menu at startup. Typically, the option to enter your boot menu is displayed while your computer manufacturer’s logo is displayed on your screen. If you are unclear how to enter the boot menu, please contact the Support Center Helpdesk at (740)593-1222.
