Many forms of viruses and other malicious software attempt to distribute themselves by email. Because of the ability to sent web pages and other “Hyper-text” emails, some malicious code may be embedded in the more complex emails. To prevent this code from hiding and activating on your computer, you should ensure that your computer is set to open your email as text-only, so that you may see the full details of your email. Eudora: - Click on the Tools menu and choose Options.
- In the left-hand column of icons, select Display.
- Ensure that “Automatically download HTML graphics” and “Show attachment images inline” are unchecked.
Outlook 2003 / Entourage: - Click on the Tools menu and choose Options.
- Click on the “Email Options” button.
- Ensure that the box “Read all standard mail in plain text” is checked.
