use a pop-up blocker

A pop-up blocker is recommended for your computer to prevent additional windows from opening. By default, the popup blocker for Internet Explorer is turned on and is set to the medium setting, which means it will block most automatic pop-ups.

To configure a Popup Blocker for IE:

  1. Launch an Internet Explorer browser window
  2. Select Tools, then Internet Options
  3. Go to the Privacy tab, and ensure that the “Block Pop-ups” check box is checked

Note: In the “Pop-up Blocker Settings” window, it is best to have the Filter level set to Medium or High

Configure a Popup Blocker for Firefox:

  1. Launch an Firefox browser window
  2. Select Tools, then Options
  3. Select the Content Icon and ensure the “Block Popup Windows” check box is checked

Configure a Popup Blocker for Safari:

  1. Launch a Safari browser window.
  2. Click on the “Safari” and toggle the popup blocker on or off by checking (or un-checking) “Block Pop-up Windows”
